Job Summary:

The Head of Digital Media (HOD) is responsible for leading the organization’s digital strategy, overseeing content across digital platforms, driving audience growth, and ensuring revenue generation through digital channels. This role combines editorial leadership, technology understanding, and business strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Digital Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive digital media strategy aligned with business goals
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives across platforms (Website, App, Social Media, OTT, etc.)
  • Identify new growth opportunities in digital media and emerging technologies

2. Content & Editorial Oversight

  • Supervise digital content creation including news, videos, reels, and live updates
  • Ensure content quality, accuracy, and consistency across platforms
  • Drive audience engagement through innovative storytelling formats

3. Platform Management

  • Oversee website and mobile app performance, UI/UX improvements
  • Manage social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, etc.)
  • Ensure SEO best practices and digital publishing standards

4. Audience Growth & Analytics

  • Monitor and analyze traffic, engagement, and user behavior
  • Use data analytics tools to optimize content strategy
  • Drive subscriber growth, retention, and user engagement

5. Revenue & Monetization

  • Develop digital revenue strategies including ads, subscriptions, and branded content
  • Work closely with sales and marketing teams for monetization opportunities
  • Optimize ad inventory and digital campaigns

6. Team Management

  • Lead and mentor digital editorial, design, and tech teams
  • Set KPIs and performance targets for team members
  • Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration

7. Technology & Innovation

  • Coordinate with tech teams for CMS, app updates, and platform improvements
  • Stay updated with industry trends, AI tools, and digital media innovations
  • Implement automation and workflow improvements

8. Compliance & Brand Management

  • Ensure content complies with legal, ethical, and organizational standards
  • Maintain brand voice and identity across all digital platforms

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Deep understanding of digital media ecosystem
  • Expertise in SEO, social media algorithms, and analytics tools
  • Content strategy and storytelling ability
  • Revenue-driven mindset
  • Excellent communication and team management skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Digital Media, or related field
  • 8–15 years of experience in digital media, with leadership experience preferred

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in news/media organizations
  • Hands-on knowledge of CMS, Google Analytics, and social media tools
  • Proven track record in audience growth and digital revenue
